Using Interactive, Educational Osmo Games in Your Homeschool

Aside from all the typical curriculum we use as homeschoolers, it’s also important that we have fun, educational games available for our kids to play that will support their learning, help them develop their creativity, and support a well rounded STEAM education! This is where Osmo Games come in.

Osmo Games for All Ages

Osmo makes a variety of interactive, educational games for all ages, from preschoolers to family games! This means you’ll be able to use these games for years.

They have games covering many subjects: math, spelling, reading, art, coding, music, and more!

These aren’t just apps either, each game has interactive game pieces, making this a hands-on activity.

Osmo Starter Kits

If you are new to Osmo, then you will want to choose one of their starter kits. These include a base for either an iPad or Kindle Fire, game pieces, and apps. There are a variety of starter kits available. Check out this page to see all the options.

Osmo Coding Games

We were lucky to get an early release of the NEW Osmo Coding Family Bundle to review. It includes durable game pieces and 3 games. It’s also available as the Coding Starter Kit, which includes a base for an iPad or Kindle Fire.

The Osmo Coding Bundle combines bestsellers Coding Awbie, Coding Jam and Coding Duo, and makes coding accessible and fun through hands-on learning games specifically designed for kids 5 to 10.

Children learn basic coding concepts including problem solving, computational thinking, and coding fundamentals, in addition to more complex concepts, such as sequencing, looping, logic thinking, and pair programming.

My boys LOVE these coding games. They play them almost every day.

Each of the three games included gradually progresses in skill level required. They are also each very different from each other in what the kids are accomplishing in the game play.

I foresee these being played by my kids for years to come! Learn more about the Osmo Coding Bundle here.

Osmo Genius Kit

The Osmo Genius Kit is designed for ages 6-10, though many 5 year olds would be able to use it too. It includes Osmo Base & Reflector for iPad, Tangram pieces, Numbers tiles, Words tiles, Stackable storage for each game & 7 Game Apps: Math Buzz, Lettertopia, Numbers, Tangram, Words, Newton, and Masterpiece. The games work on these skills: math, spelling, reading, problem solving, and collaborative learning.

Osmo Pizza Co Game

All 3 of my boys love the Pizza Co game! In the regular game kids make pizza for customers, collect payment & make change with dollars and coins, & learn the profitability of their business. These are such great skills for kids to learn!

It also has a junior mode, where the kids just make the pizzas or you can also have it so that it’s in whole dollars to simplify the math.

McKellen is 3 and can play in the junior mode just making the pizzas.

When Graham had first turned 5 he could play the junior mode with the pizzas and whole dollars.

It’s definitely a game that kids at multiple levels can all play!

Osmo Games for Homeschoolers

We love using Osmo Games as a part of our homeschooling life! These interactive, hands-on games, work on skills elementary school kids are learning and teach them new skills they won’t learn other places.

This is a healthy way for kids to enjoy screen time and learn naturally through play.
